Itinerary :

Day 1:

Transfer to the airport and flight (30 min) to the town of Coca at 11:00 a.m. (subject to change). A 30-minute flight over the Andes will take you to Coca, a lively oil town located in the Amazon Basin. Quick lunch at the Sacha Lodge facilities followed by a 2-hour canoe ride to the lodge.

A 30-minute walk to reach Pilchicocha Lagoon. The journey continues by paddle canoe to the lodge with native guides.
Arrival at Sacha Lodge around 3:30 / 4:00 p.m.

Swimming in Pilchicocha Lagoon, known as the black-water lagoon, home to various species of fish and wildlife.
Birdwatching from our mini tower near the lodge. It is also an excellent place to enjoy the sunset. Option to visit the butterfly breeding center with your naturalist guide.

After dinner, a night walk in the forest to observe a wide variety of nocturnal species. Optional canoe ride on the lagoon to try to spot black caimans.

Day 2:

Early morning activity (between 6:00 and 7:00 a.m.).

Walk along the Liana Chica trail to reach the canopy walkway, where you can enjoy spectacular views.
Located within the Sacha Lodge reserve, about 3 km from the Napo River and 1.5 km from the lodge, the canopy walkway offers guests the opportunity to closely observe life in the treetops.

Two of the three towers feature observation platforms every 12 meters. The canopy walkway is 36 meters high and 225 meters long, offering a panoramic view of the wonders of the tropical rainforest.

After this elevated experience, return to the ground via the Liana Grande trail, where native guides will explain the traditional use of various medicinal plants.
The Liana Grande trail becomes the Higuerón trail, with enormous ceibo and ficus trees.

After lunch, you can choose between a walk along the Napo River or a more challenging hike on the Leoncillo trail. Both routes lead back to the main trail for the final walk and canoe ride back to the lodge.

Day 3:

Departure from the lodge after breakfast, walk along the Lagartococha trail. This trail offers the opportunity to learn more about native communities and their relationship with the forest.

You will discover their beliefs (the spirits of the ancestors live in communion with the “duende,” the spirit of the forest).

Upon arrival at Lagartococha Lagoon, enjoy a peaceful canoe ride through a swamp, home to anacondas, caimans, and capybaras.

After this adventure, a walk on the other side of the lagoon may give you the chance to spot capuchin monkeys or squirrel monkeys swinging through the trees. Return to the lodge on foot or by canoe for a swim in the lagoon or a well-deserved nap in a hammock on your balcony.

After lunch, piranha fishing!

Around 3:30 p.m., walk along one of the best trails at Sacha Lodge, a quiet path through flooded forest where you are very likely to encounter groups of squirrel monkeys, capuchins, and howler monkeys. Possibility to observe river otters and the incredible three-toed sloth.

After the canoe ride, climb the Sacha wooden tower built around an ancient ceibo tree. You will see colorful birds and enjoy an incredible sunset, with spectacular views of Sumaco Volcano and possibly the snow-capped peaks of the Andes.

Leaving the tower before or after sunset will be an unforgettable experience.
Night canoe ride back while listening to the symphony of insects and frogs. Observation of bats and nocturnal birds. Return to Pilchicocha Lagoon.
